Joyetech Exceed Grip [Review]

Have you ever thought that it would be possible for a Pod Mod to replace its coil the same way as with other classical Mods? Probably never...

Joyetech however did and having entered dynamically in the game of Pods Mods, they made this thought materialize with its own rules in the fast-growing market of Pods. The Team of Joyetech brings their new creature called Exceed Grip and leaves the public with a great impression.

Let’s see what they have for us:

Impressive Design & Build

If you are lucky enough to be one of those who receive the Joyetech Exceed Grip package you will be greeted by an adorably, solid, small rectangular box - it’s barely bigger than a Zippo lighter - featured with nicely rounded corners, textured or polished grip and plastic panels in various wonderful color combinations on each side.

There’s a snazzy, brushed metal ribbon running around the entire mod’s base, top and narrower sides in one continuous sweep. The first panel has embedded the famous Joyetech branding, which blends discreetly in with the texture and color on the white & black version. The other side has the Exceed Grip brand in the center.

Looking from the Joyetech side, you will see a replaceable quality 510 Delrin drip tip at the very right of the top surface with the ideal diameter in order to avoid those bad experiences of ejuice in your mouth. On the opposite side you will find the neat, thumb tip sized, rectangular fire button, in white, blue, or black according to device’s color!

At the bottom an elongated, horizontal running LED indicator which can inform the user the amount of battery level left. Although Exceed’s battery can guarantee a full day - for regular use-. A micro USB port below that make it possible to recharge your Exceed Grip when needed.

On the opposite side, things are looking funky and innovative, as Joyetech has designed this pod’s cartridge to slide in & out to the center of that side. Pulling it out, you will see a little metal base to this cartridge, which is removable, allowing to actually change the coil head.

As we mentioned earlier, the feature that make Exceed Grip unique is that it is equipped with two options of cartridges/ coils.
Whether you are appealed to DL or MTL draws, this Pod system is for you. In the first case, now you have the ability to replace the DL Coil by simply follow 4 simple steps:
- Twist the metal fixture at the bottom of the cartridge
- Pull this section out
- Remove and replace the coil
- And finally twist the fixture back into place.
Pretty simple, isn’t it?

If the case is that you prefer MTL Vaping over DL, you can use the MTL, disposable Cartridge which can be identified by the fact that it has a plastic base and a solid coil and shaft within the cartridge. The only drawback with this pod is that you have to replace it when the pre-installed coil become overused.

Re-Filling

Both cartridges can be refilled through the port on the side of the cartridge through the following quick and simple operation:
- Remove the e-juice pod (tank)
- Find the silicon stopper and ‘unplug’ it
- Fill gently and slowly
- Replace the stopper and click cartridge back into place.
- Let stand for 10 minutes before vaping to allow vape juice to soak into the cotton.

*Bonus Tip:
When you are filling the pods, hold them in an angle of about 20 – 30 degrees in order to fill it easier.

PERFORMANCE (or Warning?)

At this point we want to “warn” you in order to avoid the kind of experience that many vapers had! Since the Exceed Grip comes with the 0.4 Ohm DL cartridge preinstalled, it is easy to assume that it will be the first to be tested. Most people have the notion that Pod Mods give the maximum of their performance only when we fill them with saltnic eJuice. And they were right, until Joyetech Exceed Grip made its debut.

Battery Life

Another major plus for this diminutive and versatile device is its whopping, 1000 mAh built in battery. It’s hard to believe they fit such a huge battery into such a small device but the relative weight of this pod attests to the fact… as does its outstanding battery life.

Even with chain vaping, you can happily vape on this pod for a day and a half (excluding the night) as the low wattage output (at about 10 – 13 W) preserves that 1000 mAh battery. Very good. You will be amazed by the great performance when using it for DL (although restricted). For MTL, the draw is smooth but also quite open, far less restricted than a cigarette.
